Weekend In Bath

This weekend past my husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary. We spent a languid couple of days in Bath with our daughter and indulged in a spot of fine dining, pampering and general loafing. Bath is so unconscionably beautiful that it was enough to make this househunter long to be unfettered by a sensible commute.

There was elegant architecture at every turn and even the parts of town that one would expect to be much less urbane were worth a second gawp.

We took in just enough tourist sights - Pulteney Bridge and The Roman Baths - to make our trip worthwhile and, otherwise, relished the luxury of going wherever our whims led us.

In the end, however, it was the cobbled and distinctly non-cookie-cutter High Street that charmed me.

Of course, there is so much more to see and do in Bath but I feel that a city such as this is to be explored and savoured piecemeal in order to fully appreciate its splendour.

What do you think? Same time next year?

Happy anniversary! It looks like a wonderful trip and town, Chi. Your photos are so beautiful. I love the peekaboo shots of the boats in the water and over the statue's shoulder. I definitely think you should make Bath an annual family outing. (Perhaps I will do the same with San Francisco.) Hot, mineral baths do sound quite luxurious and relaxing.
Happy weekend!

Come in for a free sample? Don't mind if I do! That's the most surefire way to get me into a store! Bath just looks incredibly charming and so historical! I love that old doorway and love even more the fact that you and your husband celebrated this way for your anniversary. Happy anniversary by the way! Here's to many, many more wonderful years with hopefully lots more fun trips to other beautiful places, too. xoxo

PS. "relished the luxury of going wherever our whims led us." My FAVORITE kind of vacation. You always end up seeing the best stuff this way!
