Jubilee Fun
Like most people in the country this weekend, I did my fair share of soaking up the Jubilee atmosphere and more than a little rain. I had heard that Bicester Village would have some fun displays so off I went yet again to see what I could see.
Aubin & Wills whimsical take on the ubiquitous Union Jack was one of my favourites.

In keeping with the summer foliage theme, a few delightful creatures could be seen amidst the crowds.

Haven't we had the most wonderful few days? Despite the low-key celebrations in my little neck of the woods, there has been such bonhomie and good cheer.

I must admit that I am sorry we shan't be eating meals and clinking glasses in the streets and that I will no longer have an excuse to bunk off work come Wednesday.

Oh, I like Aubin & Wills take on the union jack...that would have gone well in my post:)
It's nice that we had the opportunity to join in some celebrations. I did go to the South Bank for a bit but then went on to a street party. Unfortunately the weather made me want to go home after a while but have loved the nation coming together like this.
It's truly been a wonderful celebration. Here's to our queen!!

Haha! It would, wouldn't it?
It's been a lovely weekend, weather notwithstanding - and hasn't the Queen been such a trooper?! - I wish we could have street parties every weekend! :D
Chi-I love the A&W butterflies-feeling inspired! I've just loved this long weekend too-we went to watch the flotilla-hilarious. Both kids on our shoulders got a 60 second view each and Jon and I thoroughly enjoyed watching it through other people's view finders!! Still, we can say we did it! Have a great rest of the week my lovely-now that I actually have a blogroll I can check in to everybody more often xx

Aww, what a lovely memory for the kids - sounds like you had a great time!
Enjoy the three-day "week"! :D x
Happy belated Jubilee Chi (why it rhymes, #justsayin') I love all those animals with grass on them and the crown. So cool :)
Wish I could have bunked the whole week off work :(
Thanks, Annie-bee and to you! :D

The velveteen sheep looks especially strokeable, doesn't he? x
Some fantastic shots here! My fav is also the A&W union jack, so beautiful and the butterflies remind me of something called summer!!
I've always wanted to go to Bicester Village! It's like a bargain-shoppers paradise there, or so I've heard. And it looks so lovely! I'm glad you had a good time and have had a bit of nice weather! How's the general sentiment now that the Jubilee is over? I imagine people are pretty relieved and simultaneously sad.
seriously lovely... i love a new take on an old idea... the butterflies are my fave! chi you really do have an eye for sourcing some wonderful blog fodder... love it!
Sorry I missed this post, Chi. I love all the jubilee details you captured. Those animals and the butterfly Union Jack are quite something impressive and beautiful.
Hope all is well, Chi. Thinking of you.
@Toni: Summer's been pretty disappointing so far, hasn't it?
I'm working on getting hold of the "butterfly jack" as we "speak"! :D
@Erin: You'd love it, Erin, I'm sure! There are a few designer bargain outlets dotted around the country, though.

Everyone seems to have had such a great time and now have lots of memories that they'll, no doubt, cherish for a lifetime - it was a pretty special weekend. :)
@Sue: Aww, thanks - that means so much coming from you! x

Aren't they fun? I think they married quirky British design and the jubilee perfectly.

Thanks for checking in, honey. :)
L handled her first (and, hopefully, last!) encounter with conjunctivitis like a trooper and we didn't catch it, thankfully! :) xo
