Some Things About Me
My dear friend Theresa has thrown a virtual cocktail party and invited a host of bloggers from around the world. As is customary at such affairs, I thought it best to share a few little ice-breakers about myself.

1. My name means God's gift.
2. I feel pure and exhilarated when I dance.
3. I wrote and illustrated books as a child.
4. Years later, I came alarmingly close to becoming a pharmacist.
5. Old and used objects frighten me a little and I have a feeling they can tell.
6. I am a hopeless and incurable romantic.
7. Some of my favourite days begin (and end) with the satisfaction of my inordinately sweet tooth.
8. I do a mean Louis Armstrong impression.
9. I am quite shy and I find the prospect of meeting new people vaguely unsettling.
10. The last holiday I had with my parents was spent in Saudi Arabia.
If you feel up to mingling and getting to know the other guests a little better, you can do so here. You never know - it could lead to the start of a beautiful friendship.
P.S. I cannot believe that I published that photo.

I never in a million years would have dreamed that you were shy! I actually am too, and all the time people are telling me that they can't believe it when I say I'm shy. I'd actually thought, I should have added this fact about me, but too late!
Some of the other stuff, like the children's books and the romantic bit, is less surprising, but I really loved hearing about your relationship with "old things."
Thanks so much for sharing...especially that photo! Adorable!
"I never in a million years would have dreamed that you were shy! I actually am too, and all the time people are telling me that they can't believe it when I say I'm shy."
No-one believes me either! In fact, at school it was mistaken for snobbery. :(
Gosh, wasn't this hard?!
I'm so looking forward to reading yours, though! :) x
I would LOVE to hear your Louis Armstrong impression. I have a feeling it would make me love you even more! Do you still have those books you wrote? I would love to see those!
Thank you so much for sharing these things with us, Chi! I love knowing what your name means now. How do you pronounce it? I have a feeling I've been saying it wrong ;)
Have a wonderful weekend, lovely girl! I loved finding out new little details about you. xoxo
Aw Chi, what a absolutely cute photo, you were so gorgeous (still are!!!). Loving the long sock ballet shoe combo, the image brought a tear to my eye and a chuckle at the same time, honestly.
All your amazing facts, I knew point 6 about you but the rest is a real relevation.. um revelation. Give us more, do delve deeper into each point, they are all fascinating.
Thanks for sharing them with us and have a wonderful weekend xx
chi, that's one of THE sweetest childhood photos i think i've ever seen! i hope you don't mind, but i completely stole your idea as i hate posting without a photo and i had absolutely no idea what picture to put up, until i saw this little beauty!
comments 3, 6, 7 & 9 i can completely relate to, but comment no. 5 makes me think you might not enjoy a trip to my house... old stuff & i are cool with eachother! ;)
Chi, I wish you could have seen my big, ol' cheshire cat smile when your page launched and I saw your beautiful (little girl) face looking at me from the computer screen. I love that you chose that picture to share with us. Chi...God's gift...That is magical!
I have a feeling that we are all shy. I'm horribly shy especially when you first meet me (which, yes, I think gets mistaken for snobbery or aloofness). That's why it's necessary for me to have second and third meetings. ;)
You are beautiful through and through...Thank you for this post and playing along today. Have a great weekend, Chi!
PS~Now, if we could only get you to do a YouTube video of your Louis Armstrong! I kid!
Hi there, am here from Therese's site. Love your honesty and the layout of your site. So clean and lovely. Hope to read more in the future. p.s. how was Saudi Arabia? I have good friends moving there...i really am curious about it.
That is one gorgeous photo of you:) really lovely!
I knew some things I suppose, but am fascinated by the writing and illustrating of books. Hmmm, there might be a link to your new business:)
You were going to become a pharmacist? Wow.... so glad that never happened..Would have been sooo wrong for you and not aligned with your values now! Gosh, we would have never met....
The 'old' things is interesting....
Thank you for sharing... why didn't you amuse us in Berlin with your LA impression, that would have been so cool. x
chi, i would never have picked you as being shy. but shyness is difficult... especially when misread. i absolutely adore this photo of you. so beautiful and full of character.
i feel free too when i dance. i should dance more often.
xxx
Oh my goodness! Thanks, everyone - I'm so touched by your lovely comments. :) xoxo
@Erin: "I would LOVE to hear your Louis Armstrong impression. I have a feeling it would make me love you even more!"
Haha! It always gives my daughter the giggles! :D
The books I wrote are with my Mum and I haven't seen them for decades.
@Sam: "Loving the long sock ballet shoe combo, the image brought a tear to my eye and a chuckle at the same time, honestly."
Haha! It makes me laugh too whenever I see it. My Mum did love dressing me up in her own unique way! :D
@Sue: "i hope you don't mind, but i completely stole your idea as i hate posting without a photo and i had absolutely no idea what picture to put up, until i saw this little beauty!"
Of course not! How lovely - I can't wait to see yours!!!
@Theresa: "I have a feeling that we are all shy. I'm horribly shy especially when you first meet me (which, yes, I think gets mistaken for snobbery or aloofness). That's why it's necessary for me to have second and third meetings. ;)"
Tell me about it! I either talk too much or too little and then pray for another meeting so that I get the opportunity to redeem myself. :/
I'm so glad we already know that about each other - it'll make our first meeting a LOT easier! :D
@Christine: Saudi Arabia was quite an experience! I knew I'd have to wear a burkah but sitting separately to my Dad and brothers on public transport etc. was something I hadn't even considered!
Thanks for stopping by - glad you like what I've done with the place. :)
@Tina: "You were going to become a pharmacist? Wow.... so glad that never happened..Would have been sooo wrong for you and not aligned with your values now! Gosh, we would have never met...."
Isn't it incredible that all the teeny tiny decisions we made in life have led us to this point?! Mind-blowing - truly.
@Leah: "i feel free too when i dance. i should dance more often."
Isn't it the best feeling in the world EVER?! Even the silly moves I make up for my daughter count. :)
Thanks for stopping by! x
Love your photo and love the meaning of your name. Glad to have found you via Theresa's blog:)
Thanks, Haydee - so good of you to stop by! :)
Chi that is possibly the best photo I’ve ever seen of anything? Please can I have permission to put it on my Tumblr? I love it so much! You look so young and elegant!
I know that you’re shy. You creep into rooms quietly and sit at the end until someone notices you, it’s very endearing and sweet. But get you talking and then your shyness disappears I think.
My name means ‘loveable’. No one believes that and it’s not very appropriate either!
I can totally believe you can do a Louis impression and I so want to hear it! You’ve stitched yourself up with that as we’re all going to make you do it next time we see you.
Lovely to read all these things about you xx
"Please can I have permission to put it on my Tumblr? I love it so much! You look so young and elegant!"
Aww, thanks Birdy - and because you asked so nicely, yes! :D x
"You creep into rooms quietly and sit at the end until someone notices you, it’s very endearing and sweet."
Haha! I do, don't I? *blushes*
This is the new, brassier, bolder me, by the way - I was so much worse as a child.
Shucks! I shouldn't have mentioned the Louis thing, should I? :/
Aww, what a absolutely perfect picture. You are so sweet to share a bit of yourself including this beautiful picture. I am new to your blog and appreciate your candor. Thank you for sharing a bit of yourself.
Oh. My! How cute is this picture!?!....I love it!...Thanks for sharing!....
