Homemade Envelopes
Immersed as we are in the digital world, there is nothing more pleasing than receiving a handwritten note enclosed in a beautiful envelope. I put together this simple tutorial some months ago and I thought I would share it with you.

/Materials/
A selection of plain and patterned paper in complimentary colours
An envelope template (or a downloadable version easily obtained online in various sizes)
A pencil
Scissors
Bone folder
Glue
Trace around the template on one sheet of plain and one sheet of patterned paper and cut out or simply cut out a downloaded and printed envelope outline of your choosing.
Glue both envelopes together keeping the plain one on the inside and the patterned one on the outside.
Score along the guidelines provided using the bone folder and fold each section.
Secure the folds with a little more glue.
Tuck in your note, seal and address using handwritten sticky labels.

To create an added element of surprise, you could do the reverse and have the plain sheet on the outside and a pop of vibrant pattern on the inside.
Now it's your turn.
Be bold.
Experiment with newspaper, maps (Paris, anyone?) or even prints of old photos. The possibilities are reassuringly endless.

Yes, I'm still a big fan of snail mail. No matter how many sparkly new things the digital age throws at us, there is nothing quite like receiving mail the old fashion way. This tutorial is a wonderful idea to add a little something extra special. Thank you, Chi!
what a lovely tutorial - thanks for sharing. Happy weekend x
Gorgeous Chi! I love it that such a thing as an envelope template exists!
Thanks, everyone - so glad you like it! :) x
"Paris, anyone?" Uhhh, yeah! That sounds right up my alley. I love getting letters or cards in the mail. There's nothing like tangible envelopes, especially ones this pretty! I should send more letters, thank you for the reminder. xoxo
